In May 31, TFC sponsored a parenting workshop at Golden Gate Christian
Church, SF.  Dr. Tam discussed ways to deal with teen gaming addiction.
Tom and Margie Fong presented ways to build relationship with teens.  Dr.
and Mrs. Chun Wai Chan talked about bringing up successful teenagers.
Cantonese DVD video of the workshop is available for sale... click

In May 27, Dr. Tam talked about the history and consequences of Prop 8 on
KTSF's "Talk Tonight" show.  He discussed about California's fight to keep the
traditional definition of marriage and how it would help to protect future generations
from being brainwashed on the meaning of marriage.  He expressed concern about
a curriculum being introduced by the Alameda School Board to teach homosexuality
to K-5 children.  In the second grade, children are taught a book called "and tango
makes 3".  With the book, children can be taught that when they like to play with
a mate of the same sex more than with the opposite sex, they might be gay.
He encouraged parents to proactively teach their children the proper structure of
the family and be a good example by loving each other and build strong marriages.

In May 26, California Supreme Court ruled 6-1 to uphold Prop 8, honoring the vote
of the people.  However, the 18,000 same-sex marriage licenses issued between
June and November 2008 were kept legal.  Dr. Tam joined the Yes on 8 group to
hold a press conference in Sacramento.  In answering a reporter, he expressed
concern that, by keeping the legality of the 18,000 same-sex marriage licenses,
the Supreme Court may be opening a door for future legalization possibilities.

In May 19, Californians voted on the special election propositions in raising taxes
and re-allocation of funds to tackle the huge California budget deficit.  Dr. Tam was
questioned by the KTSF reporter on his view of Prop 1-C, increase of taxation and
lotto promotion in order to cover the state spending deficit.  He pointed out that
most lotto buyers are from the lower income groups.  Encouraging them to spend
more on lotto would reduce their financial reserve for daily living.  Supporting such
a bill would be unethical.

The California Supreme Court held a hearing from the opponents and proponents
of Prop 8 in March 15.  Five lawyers represented the parties that sued on the
validity of Prop 8 spent two and half hours to present their points.  Professor
Ken Starr represented Prop 8 proponents to defend Prop 8 for one hour.  Dr. Tam
was among the sixteen people from the Prop 8 group sitting at the court.  The
anti-Prop 8 group had more than five times the Prop 8 people.  Outside the court,
Rev. Thomas Wang, chairman of TFC, led a group of Christians holding signs
and prayers in support of Prop 8.  Most people got the impression that the court
favors Prop 8.  The final verdict will be announced within 90 days.

In late Feb, a gay California Assemblyman Tom Ammiano proposed to legalize
marijuana for recreational use.   Dr. Tam responded to the press stating that
European examples of legalizing marijuana brought multiple increase in drug
abuse, crime and health care cost.  Legalizing drug also bring forth generations
of addicted and non-productive citizens.  Whatever economical benefits it might
give initially would eventually backfire and corrupts the whole society.
(Note:  Ammiano had ordered Boy Scouts to be kicked out from schools when
he was a school board member in San Francisco.  He also ordered schools to
selectively discriminate against Christian churches by refusing to rent classrooms
to churches for sunday school activities.  When he was a member of the Board of
Supervisor in San Francisco, he supported legalization of same-sex marriage
and the legalization of prostitution --- so did other gay and lesbian politicians.
Now in the Assembly, he proposed legalization of marijuana.)

2008

Although Prop 8 won with a significant margin, the opponents expressed
their anger with destruction of properties and threatening people.  They also
filed lawsuits in an attempt to take away the vote of the people.  Californians
have twice spoken to keep marriage as 1-man-1-woman only, yet prominent
Californian politicians team with gay right groups to destroy this democratic
election process.  Dr. Tam spoke out to defend the vote of the people.  Also
the proponents of Prop 8 filed lawsuits to defend the privacy and the vote
of the people.  Your help is needed, please donate to www.ProtectMarriage.com.

Throughout September and October, Dr. Tam spoke at many church and
community groups about protecting traditional marriage.  He also did radio and
TV interviews, radio debates in San Francisco and Los Angeles.  In November 4,
Prop 8 was passed by California voters 52% to 48%.

*******************************************************************************************

On Oct 29, Dr. Tam participated in a debate on same-sex marriage at the
San Francisco Foundation.  In front of the New America Media reporters, together
with Derek McCoy and Martin Ford from the Prop 8 camp, he debated the
oppenents of Prop 8.

*******************************************************************************************

On Oct 19, Traditional Family Coalition co-sponsored a protect marriage rally
at Cupertino.  About 5,000 people in the Bay Area vowed to support traditional
marriage, probably the largest rally in Northern California.

*******************************************************************************************

On Oct 14, Dr. Tam debated in a talk show on KTSF-TV for Prop 4,
Parental Notice on Teen Abortion.  Most callers called in to support Dr. Tam's
stand on protecting teen girls from predators and that parents should be informed
about their teen daughter's abortion.

*******************************************************************************************

On Oct 12, Dr. Tam spoke at two Los Angeles conferences called Sexual
Brokenness.  He spoke on the social impact of same-sex marriage and the
importance of the Marriage Amendment.  Other topics include the cause of
homosexuality, sexual addiction, Biblical response to homosexuality.  A
speaker spoke on how she successfully left homosexuality and what the
church needs to do to reach out to the sexually broken.

*******************************************************************************************

On Oct 1, Traditional Family Coalition teamed with some San Francisco
residents to hold a press conference stating our objection to a San Franciscco
Proposition, Prop K, which seek to de-criminalize prostitution.  We stated that
if the city really cares for the sex workers, she should try to bring them out of
prostitution by giving them education and career training.  Legalizing prostitution
is like the government endorses woman being exploited as a sex object, while
letting the pimps go free.  Eventually San Francisco would attract more prostitutes,
just like she has attracted more illegal aliens, homeless people, and homosexuals.

*******************************************************************************************

On Sep 29, teamed with America, Return to God Prayer Movement, Traditional
Family Coalition co-sponsored a prayer rally in San Francisco with the goal to
about church revival and pray for the California Protect Marriage Amendment.

******************************************************************************************

On June 26, with a group of Bay Area pastors, Traditional Family Coalition
hosted a press conference to reiterate the importance of 1-man-1-woman
marriage.  The pastors pointed out that the mental, social and physical
health of children are best preserved by having a biological father and
mother in the family.  Any deviation from such fundamental family structure
will be destructive to the children's wellbeing.  Same sex marriage is putting
children in a social experiment that is deprived of have a mom and a dad.

******************************************************************************************

On June 2, the Limit on Marriage Constitution Amendment qualified for
the November ballot by turning in over 1.1 million California voter's signatures.
The initiative will be called Proposition 8 and California voters will be able
to vote for putting 1-man-1-woman marriage into the Constitution.  This
measure, if passed, would overturn the Supreme Court judges' decision
to legalized same sex marriage.  On June 20, a gay group filed a lawsuit
to the Supreme Court to remove the Limit on Marriage initiative from the
November ballot.  We are witnessing not only "judicial tyranny", but also
"gay tyranny", striping the people a chance to vote.  What else is left in
a democracy?  To help fund this campaign of protecting traditional marriage,

******************************************************************************************

In 2000, over 4,600,000 Californians voted to keep 1-man-1-woman marriage
as legal in California and passed Proposition 22.  Then a gay assemblyman
from San Francisco said 4,600,000 Californians meant they do not recognize
same sex marriage done outside California, but it would be fine if they were
done in California.  On May 15, 2008, 4 California Supreme Court judges made same
sex marriage legal and over-ruled 4,600,000 Californians.  Many are outraged by
this ruling.  Dr. Bill Tam stood with a group of traditional marriage proponents
outside the court and voiced our protest.  (See video from KRON-TV)

In April, the judges of the TFC Essay Contest announced the 8 winners.
It was not an essay job to read through 193 papers and do the final grading.
There are many excellent essays and we wish we had more funding to
award them with a scholarship.  We believe the students write not only
for a competition, but also from their heart.  They care for moral values,
they see what is happening beside them and they want to help make
a better world.  We congratulate them all for a job well done.  Some of
their articles are posted in the essay webpage.  (click here)

On Valentine's Day, groups of homosexual couples lined up at San
Francisco City Hall to request same-sex marriage licenses.  Some of them
spoke to reporters claiming that many Christians are now accepting gay
marriages.  KTSF reporter interviewed TFC and we reiterated our position
that most Chinese churches adhere to the original meaning of the Bible
and accept only 1-man-1-woman marriages.  KTSF also announced in
the evening news that we are collecting voter signatures for the Protect
Marriage Act.

******************************************************************************************

In January, TFC works with ProtectMarriage.com to collect signatures
from California voters to put 1-man-1-woman marriage into the California
Constitution.  This initiative, the Protect Marriage Act, only recognizes
one-man-one-woman marriage as legal.  Meanwhile, gay activist groups
vow to defeat this effort by mobilizing interference.
